Family group-overview

Family groups are a specialization of standard Online PTO groups.

Family groups add:

• home and mobile phone numbers designated for the Family And Student Directory
• email and physical addresses designated for the Family And Student Directory
• emergency contact information (for use by school or district staff)

Conventional Names And Descriptions

The conventional name for a family group is "surname Family" (or "mother's surname/father's surname Family", if the surnames (last names) differ).

The conventional description is "mother's name/father's name".

Conventional Roles, Positions, And Guardian Numbers

Conventional roles and positions for families are "Mother" (position -3), "Father" (-2), and "Guardian" (-1) for parents and guardians, and "Student" (0) for active students.

Guardian numbers are related to roles and positions but consist of positive numbers used to assign an order to parents and guardians. The (first) mother is guardian 1, the (first) father is guardian 2, and other guardians are assigned consecutive numbers beginning at 3.

Use guardian number 0 for all non-guardian family members.
